“I think a lot of people understand in this day and age of Facebook that people put on a certain character that is not who they are. There’s an intimacy that gets lost.”

Michael Edison Hayden’s interview with theater blogger, Patrick Lee.

Oh right … rehearsals!

Posted in The Books on July 15th, 2009 by matt

Man, it’s a lot of work to put on one of these “play” things. It’s a full time job. I think my phone has started smoking from all the emails, phone calls, messages, etc.

From discussions of “how much rubber is enough rubber?” to “which photos go on Facebook?” … sometimes you forget you actually get to rehearse some scenes … and make a play. That’s the fun part. Not looking at a spreadsheet and trying to figure out how many ads you can afford, heh.

So last night we got to tackle some scene-work. Thankfully we’ve had a couple readings in the past with Scott & Aadya, so they come in with so much already woven into their work. We all know these characters now … it’s about making the most positive choices in the moments to bring them out. And we’re making strong and swift progress on that now. It’s so exciting.

I can’t wait till the whole thing is on it’s feet. Mike and I have talked about this play for years … Scott, Aadya and I have been with these characters for a year now … I’m ecstatic to show you what we’ve done.

Performance dates are now public knowledge. Tickets go on sale soon. It’s all happening.
